Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:00AM hike on the Alpharetta Greenway followed by Dutch treat lunch at the Chineese restaurant across the street from the trail head parking lot at 11:30 or noon (depending on when the group gets back from the hike), hosted by Julie Williams, RRAMA board of directors member. Directions to the trail head: Take GA 400 N to Exit 12A, go East. Go about 1/4 mile, pass a Hardees, around a corner and look for a big brown sign on the right side that says Big Creek Alpharetta Greenway, with a parking lot. Across the street is the Chineese restaurant. FYI: The Internet says that the Alpharetta Greenway is closed, but Julie said that it was recently opened, and that she has been seeing people using it.
Saturday April 10 at 10:30AM, hike at Stone Mountain, hosted by Sara Roberts, RRAMA recording secretary. Meet near the bathrooms in the parking lot marked by a 3 on this map http://www.stonemountainpark.com/maps-directions/map-of-park.aspx -- right near where Memorial Drive hits Robert E. Lee Blvd. (If you go in that entrance, you turn right after you pay and the parking lot is on the left.) The loop around the mountain is about 5 miles. There's a sidewalk along the road or we can walk the trail in the woods -- it's about the same length and we can poll those who show up to see whether they'd rather "hike" or "walk." Entry fee to the park is $10 per vehicle, so carpooling pays off. Dogs MUST be leashed. Be prepared to pick up after your dog.
